Our teachers staff team and class 9 students had left Kathmandu to Crystal Mountain Secondary School (CMS) for the new academic session 2021 that will start from April 15.
Till last year, our grade 8 graduates headed to Kathmandu every year and go to different schools in Kathmandu and appear SEE from there.
But despite the harshest of financial, geographical and political circumstances, from last year the new group of our grade 8 students have started class 9 in CMS and this year they will start class 10 for the first time and appear for the 2078/79 SEE from CMS. This was one of our long awaited dream that comes true with our great deal of effort. This will prove a milestone in our plan to upgrade CMS to a fully residential high school serving students from all over Dolpo.
Before leaving for CMS, we organized a five day teachers’ training in Kathmandu. Together with our energetic teacher’s team, we set an Academic Plan for the year 2021 mainly to implement Grade teaching and thematic curriculum from Pre-Nursery to grade 1, which will be the pilot project for our school. Based on the outcome and feedbacks, we wish to extend thematic curriculum till grade 3 in the coming year. We plan to continue a holistic after school program for students from grade 5 and above where students will be working on their STEM skills (in collaboration with Karkhana Asia), Arts and Crafts, Music and Songs, Theater, Literatures, etc, apart from curriculum focused class room activities. We will keep continuing the Audio-visual learning for all the students using OLE Nepal Resources, and piloting oriented computer classes.
One of our collaboration projects is with the Engage Nepal-with Science team in different climatic experiments and Data collection, which will be used in the form of documentary in COP 26 summit in front of UN Delegates in Scotland to address the climate change issues.
We hope the commitment, motivation and hard work of our teacher staff team and the students will take our school to greater heights. We wish them a safe journey and a wonderful year.
